Build A Gift (BAG) ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website and services in Jamaica, including custom gifts, premade gifts, and electronic gift cards.

Information We Collect

  • Account and contact details — name, email, phone number, and password (stored securely) when you register or check out.
  • Order and delivery details — shipping address, parish, delivery method and date, gift occasion, personal messages, and order notes.
  • Recipient information — name and email for gift card delivery, and delivery details when you send a gift to someone else.
  • Payment-related information — payment status and transaction references from our payment provider (WiPay). We do not store full card numbers on our servers; card details are entered on WiPay's secure payment pages.
  • Gift card records — encrypted and hashed gift card identifiers, balances, transaction history, and related audit events needed to operate the gift card programme securely.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — email address if you subscribe to updates.
  • Technical data — such as session cookies for cart and login, IP address or similar data used for security (for example rate limiting), and basic usage logs.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • Process orders, payments, deliveries, and pickups
  • Send order confirmations, status updates, and gift card emails
  • Provide customer support and resolve disputes
  • Operate gift card issuance, redemption, and balance checks
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Send marketing emails only where you have subscribed or otherwise consented, with an option to unsubscribe
  • Improve our website and services
  • Comply with legal and accounting obligations

Recipient Information

When you provide a recipient's name, address, or email, we use that information primarily to fulfill and deliver the gift or gift card, send related notifications, and protect against fraud. Providing someone's details for gift delivery does not by itself enroll them in marketing. Marketing messages are sent according to applicable consent requirements.

Gift Card Security

Gift card codes and security codes are protected with appropriate technical measures (including hashing and encryption of sensitive values, access controls for staff tools, audit logging, and rate limiting on public balance and redeem endpoints). Full gift card numbers are sent to recipients after successful payment and are not shown to purchasers. Do not share gift card details publicly.

Sharing of Information

We may share information with:

  • Payment providers (such as WiPay) to process card payments
  • Delivery partners to complete shipping or courier services
  • Service providers who host email, infrastructure, or similar systems under our instructions
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or security

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing.

Cookies and Sessions

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions such as keeping you signed in and maintaining your shopping cart. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect checkout and account features.

Data Retention

We retain order, payment, gift card, and account records for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal and accounting requirements, resolve disputes, and maintain security. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe or we remove inactive subscriptions.

Children

Our services are intended for adults making purchases. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for account registration. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
